Made by hand at Westcombe Dairy, Westcombe Red is a Traditional Cloth-Bound Recipe ‘Red Leicester’, made here in Somerset.

Westcombe Red is a handmade cheese crafted at Westcombe Dairy, nestled in the heart of Somerset's picturesque countryside. This artisanal cheese is a testament to the dairy's unwavering commitment to traditional cheese-making methods, which date back over a century.

It’s a semi-hard cheese with a rich, complex flavor and a distinctive red-orange paste. Made from raw milk of the dairy's own herd of cows, the cheese is carefully crafted by hand and aged for around 5 months to allow its full flavor to develop. It is cloth-bound in a similar way to their Cheddar. The result is a cheese with a nutty, buttery taste that's perfect for pairing with crackers, fruit, and a range of other accompaniments, and is perfect staple in the kitchen, when you need to top and dish and have a mellow snack while cooking.

Westcombe Dairy is a small family-run farm that has been producing cheese for over 100 years. They take great pride in their traditional cheese-making methods, which involve using raw milk and natural rennet to create cheeses with exceptional flavor and texture. The dairy is also known for its other award-winning cheeses, including the Westcombe Cheddar and the Westcombe Dairy Ricotta.
